"Cheated out of 10 Billion Won by an Acquaintance... Lost Everything," Baritone Kim Dong-gyu's Confession

In the 11th episode of MBN's 'GabojaGO Season 3' aired on the 30th, Kim Dong-kyu appeared and revealed that he was scammed by a trusted acquaintance in the past. Kim Dong-kyu recalled, "I signed without even looking at the documents because they said they would double the money." He continued, "It was a close acquaintance, so I didn't suspect anything. That was truly the time I wanted to die," but added, "Rather than saying that person committed fraud, the situation made the person commit fraud. They went bankrupt while doing business." He further explained, "The amount lost was about 10 billion won. It's fortunate that I was able to keep the house I live in now," and added, "I lost all my assets. It happened after my divorce."

The acquaintance who committed the fraud is known to have gone to prison. After experiencing this, he said, "I was heartbroken, my chest ached, and the future looked bleak. Fortunately, I have overcome it well now," and added, "Since then, if someone asks to borrow money, I just give it, but I don't lend it."

He also spoke about his married life. Kim Dong-kyu, who got married in Italy at the age of 30, said, "We lived together for seven years and then separated," and said, "I know my own faults. When the limits of mutual consideration are reached, it might be better to part ways." He explained, "Living with one person for a lifetime is a blessing. It means understanding and giving space to the other person," and added, "Giving space doesn't have a negative meaning. I used to share even the mental space with my ex-wife. We went to concert halls together, performed together, and were always together, so eventually, there was nothing left to talk about."

Meanwhile, Kim Dong-kyu, born to a soprano mother and a composer father, is said to have had a fast learning curve in music from a young age thanks to the talent inherited from his parents. He made his name known worldwide by winning first place at the world's top Verdi International Vocal Competition and debuted at the age of 25 at the 'La Scala Theatre' as the first Korean, where he played leading roles.
