Visiting Heavy Snow Damage Site
"Disaster Relief Reserve Fund Essential to Blow Away Democratic Party"
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, visited the site of heavy snow damage on the 1st and said, "The Democratic Party cutting the disaster response contingency fund is like bullying the disaster victims."
On the same day, Han visited the Gyeonggi Anyang Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market and the Gyeonggi Uiwang Bugok Dokkaebi Market, where damage such as facility collapse occurred due to heavy snow, and said, "The budget cut by the Democratic Party a few days ago included a 1 trillion won disaster response contingency fund," adding, "It should be promptly supported as needed."
He continued, "I propose that all political circles, regarding these livelihood issues, stop political strife or stubbornness and think only of the hearts of our people."
In a post on Facebook afterward, Han emphasized, "Unexpected natural disasters caused by climate change are now a constant," and "The disaster response contingency fund, which the Democratic Party discarded, is absolutely necessary to quickly prepare for such unforeseen natural disasters."
He added, "If there is a disaster response contingency fund, rapid support to disaster victims can be provided within 1 to 2 weeks, but if the contingency fund is insufficient and a supplementary budget (Chugyeong) is made, it takes several months," and criticized, "How does the Democratic Party plan to respond to future climate disasters after recklessly cutting the essential disaster response contingency fund without any measures?"
