On the 2nd, the Board of Audit and Inspection (BAI) announced on the 1st that it would hold an emergency briefing chaired by Secretary-General Choi Dal-young to express its position on the Democratic Party's push to impeach BAI Chairman Choi Jae-hae.
On the morning of the 2nd, Secretary-General Choi is expected to criticize the Democratic Party's move to impeach the BAI Chairman during an emergency briefing at the BAI office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and to refute allegations of inadequate audits of the presidential office residence raised by opposition parties.
Earlier, on the 29th, Chairman Choi opposed the opposition party's impeachment push, calling it a "political impeachment that undermines the foundation of the constitutional order." BAI executives reportedly held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 29th, agreeing that the impeachment attempt was unjust and that the agency's independence must be maintained.
