UK Intelligence Chief: "If Support for Ukraine Stops, North Korea Will Become More Bold"

British intelligence authorities warned that "if Russia wins the war in Ukraine, North Korea will take even bolder actions." This statement is interpreted as being made with awareness of the incoming U.S. President Donald Trump, who is skeptical about supporting Ukraine.

UK Intelligence Chief: "If Support for Ukraine Stops, North Korea Will Become More Bold" Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, met with Andrey Belousov, Russian Minister of Defense, who visited North Korea on the 29th, according to a report by the Korean Central News Agency on the 30th. According to major foreign media on the 29th (local time), Richard Moore, head of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), mentioned countries siding with Russia, including North Korea, saying, "If we do not support Ukraine, the losses will be infinitely high."

He analyzed, "China will carefully consider the future impact," and "North Korea will become bolder, and Iran will become more dangerous than now." North Korea's provision of weapons such as missiles and shells to Russia and the deployment of over 10,000 troops violate international law and the UN's sanctions resolutions against North Korea. Despite international warnings, North Korea's support for Russia suggests that if Russia wins, there is a possibility of more blatant provocations.

Moore predicted that Vladimir Putin's victory would pose additional threats to the whole of Europe. He emphasized, "Putin will not stop at making Ukraine a vassal state," and "the security of allies not only in the UK, France, and Europe but also across the Atlantic will be at risk."

On the same day in Paris, Nicolas Renier, counterpart and head of the French Domestic Security Directorate (DGSI), also mentioned a global security crisis. Renier stated, "The war in Ukraine has endangered the security of all European countries," but also noted, "What is happening in the Indo-Pacific region could also jeopardize the future of the world."
