The Daedeok Innopolis Venture Association (Chairman Kim Byung-soon, hereinafter referred to as the Venture Association) has taken steps to support market expansion for defense drone companies in Daejeon.
The Venture Association is carrying out the Daejeon Defense Industry Innovation Cluster project in collaboration with Daejeon Metropolitan City, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Agency for Defense Development, and Daejeon Technopark. This project involves 11 selected companies as part of the defense drone technology commercialization market expansion support initiative.
To expand the market for Daejeon defense drone companies, following the participation in the SAHA EXPO exhibition in T?rkiye and the buyer matching program in October, an exchange cooperation and buyer matching program was conducted in Indonesia in November.
Five participating companies?Nes&Tech, Daeyoung MNS, Bluewave Tel, LP Tech, and Hancom Inspace?took part in the November Indonesia exchange cooperation program. These companies achieved meaningful results through visits to Indonesian corporate support organizations, seminars, and a local buyer matching program in Jakarta.
The local institution visit program in Indonesia expanded the global network by sharing information and introducing companies through visits to the Indonesian Drone Pilots Association, Bandung Technopark, Gunadarma University, and Telkom University to secure networks for Indonesian market entry and exchange cooperation. To ensure this exchange is not a one-time event but continuous, MOUs were signed with the Indonesian Drone Pilots Association, Bandung Technopark, and Gunadarma University.
Additionally, to deepen understanding of Indonesia’s country and industry, the Daejeon defense drone companies visited the Indonesian branch of Samjong Accounting Corporation, where they held a seminar on Indonesia’s economic trends and market entry strategies, providing an opportunity to establish entry strategies for Indonesia.
Through the Indonesian buyer matching program, business consultations were held between local Indonesian companies and participating companies, resulting in export consultations worth approximately $3.8 million (45 consultation cases).
Earlier in October, six participating companies?Dutak Technology, Sungjin Techwin, Stellavision, H3R, Pion Systems, and Hancom Awesome Tech?visited T?rkiye. Specifically, they attended the T?rkiye SAHA EXPO exhibition, visited local corporate support organizations, participated in special lectures by aerospace/defense industry officials in T?rkiye, and engaged in the T?rkiye buyer matching program.
The T?rkiye SAHA EXPO (Defense and Aerospace Exhibition), which began in 2018, is now in its fourth edition this year. The 2024 SAHA EXPO was held successfully with participation from over 390 international companies from more than 100 countries, including exhibition halls from over 30 countries.
Through this exhibition, the Venture Association discovered market expansion opportunities by facilitating business exchanges and market analysis among T?rkiye aerospace companies and institutions. They also had the opportunity to introduce trends and companies in the T?rkiye aerospace industry through a special lecture by local aerospace industry experts.
In the T?rkiye local buyer matching program, six Daejeon defense drone companies were matched with local buyers, distributors, and aerospace companies with high collaboration potential, resulting in export consultations worth approximately $2 million (40 consultation cases) and achievements such as signing NDAs with local companies.
Visits to T?rkiye corporate support organizations KWORKS and ITU ARI enabled sharing of strategies for local market entry and corporate exchanges. To maintain continuous information exchange, MOUs were signed with two Turkish institutions: ITU ARI TEKNOKENT and Ankara TEKMER.
A Venture Association official stated, “We visited T?rkiye and Indonesia, which are focusing on the defense industry, to understand national defense industry trends and create opportunities to pioneer new markets. We will continue to support Daejeon defense drone companies through the Daejeon Defense Industry Innovation Cluster market expansion support project.”
