Lieutenant A sustained nerve damage to his finger while restraining business owner B, who was armed with a weapon, at the enforcement site around 9 a.m. on the 26th. He is currently undergoing surgery and recovering at a specialized microsurgery hospital in Goyang City.

Mayor Kim personally visited the hospital room and expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks to Lieutenant A's courage and dedication, a greater accident was prevented," and wished him a speedy recovery.

At the hospital visit, Mayor Kim stated, “I deeply appreciate the courage and sacrifice of the police officer who devoted himself to protecting the safety of our citizens,” and added, “I wish for a swift recovery and will continue to do my best to create a safer city in cooperation with the police.”

Meanwhile, the anti-prostitution civic group ‘Clearing’ strongly condemned illegal prostitution and the associated violent behaviors in a statement released on the 27th, while also wishing Lieutenant A a speedy recovery.

In their statement, the group emphasized the legitimacy of demolishing buildings related to illegal prostitution and sexual exploitation and condemned acts that obstruct this process; called for strong responses to all tolerated illegal acts such as extortion, threats, and violence; and expressed support for the efforts of Paju City and the police to close prostitution hotspots, pledging active participation in problem-solving in solidarity with civil society.
