About 100 people attended the completion ceremony, including Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, Choi Yong-su, Head of the Yangpyeong Branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Choi Seong-ho, Chairman of Yangseo Nonghyup, Lee Jong-su, Chairman of Jipyeong Nonghyup, executives and members of Gaegun Nonghyup.

The joint nursery project is a 2024 Gyeonggi Province selective customized agricultural policy project, with a total project cost of 1.52 billion KRW (380 million KRW from the provincial government, 380 million KRW from the county government, 100 million KRW from the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and 660 million KRW self-funded). It is an automated seedling facility installed on a 6,148㎡ site with a building area of 4,104㎡.

The Gaegun Nonghyup nursery is expected to greatly contribute to the production of high-quality, clean water Yangpyeong rice by providing healthy seedlings produced in modernized and automated facilities to farmers facing difficulties due to complex reasons such as a decrease in the agricultural population, labor shortages, and rural aging, and by supplying excellent seedling trays.

Gaegun Nonghyup plans to start full-scale production of high-quality seedlings from April next year. The production scale is 60,000 trays annually, accounting for about 40% or more of the volume in Gaegun-myeon, and this is expected to gradually increase.

Governor Jeon Jin-seon said in his congratulatory remarks, “We will cooperate with Nonghyup to ensure that local farmers have no inconvenience in farming, promote eco-friendly agriculture to expand eco-friendly Yangpyeong rice, and do our best to listen to the voices of farmers and reflect them in policies.”
