Regular General Meeting of the Secondary Battery Industry Corporate Council, Sharing Achievements and Building Networks Among Companies
Full Effort Towards Innovative Technology Development and Establishing a Sustainable Secondary Battery Industry Ecosystem
On the 28th, Pohang City held the ‘Pohang Secondary Battery Industry Corporate Council Regular General Meeting’ at the POSCO International Hall.

The meeting was held to share activities and achievements over the past year, explore directions for the development of the secondary battery industry, and build a network to strengthen cooperation among companies.
The general meeting was attended by about 70 industry-academia-research-government stakeholders, including Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-jin of Pohang City Council, Chairman Kim Byung-hoon of the Corporate Council, Jang Mi-jung, Director of Future Advanced Industry Division of Gyeongbuk Province, Kwak Jin-hwan, President of Sunrin University, Kim Hyung-rak, Vice President of Pohang University, and Jang Se-in, Dean of Korea Polytechnics Pohang Campus.
Starting with the Corporate Council membership report, the meeting proceeded with the settlement and audit reports, deliberation of key agenda items, signing of an industry-academia cooperation MOU between the Corporate Council and Sunrin University, reports on major activities, and commendations for meritorious contributors.
The Corporate Council focused on enhancing the competitiveness of member companies through cooperation and information sharing in 2024, fostering talent in the secondary battery industry, and promoting technological innovation, achieving several important outcomes.
They published an introduction booklet of the Corporate Council to promote the business models and achievements of member companies, participated in InterBattery 2024, InterBattery Europe 2024, and the Pohang City promotional pavilion at the World Korean Business Convention, exhibiting members’ products to strengthen their position in the industry and create networking opportunities with buyers.
Additionally, through MOUs between the council and educational institutions, they contributed to talent development and technology advancement by supporting Heunghae Technical High School as a specialized high school under agreement, POSTECH Battery Specialized Graduate School, and Handong Global University’s Glocal University selection.
Furthermore, active efforts were made to develop the local secondary battery industry through corporate activities such as EcoPro’s participation in secondary battery open innovation, the completion of Dongguk Industry’s nickel-plated steel sheet factory, and the signing of an MOU for secondary battery parts business between Pohang City and LK&Tech.
On this day, Pohang City awarded plaques of merit to six representatives and employees from Dawon Chemical, BS One, Ritec, PM Grow, Dongguk Industry, and New Tech LIB, recognizing their contributions to new technology development, investment attraction, job creation, and sustainable growth and development of the secondary battery industry, highly appreciating the positive impact member companies have had on regional industrial development.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “The Secondary Battery Corporate Council is leading the development of the secondary battery industry as the Pohang One Team to realize the 2050 Battery Nation vision,” adding, “All companies and research institutions in the region will cooperate to develop innovative technologies and build a sustainable ecosystem, advancing Pohang as a leading city with competitiveness in the global market.”
