Gwangju Urban Railway’s Nongsung Station is being transformed into a sensory “citizen communication space” through community collaboration.

On the 29th, according to Gwangju Transportation Corporation, the Transportation Corporation, Gwangju City, and Gwangju Shinsegae have joined hands to renovate the aging Nongsung Station into a modern, sophisticated citizen rest and communication space filled with rich content, with improvement construction set to begin in December.

This remodeling, centered around the performance stage inside Nongsung Station, is highly anticipated as the three public and private institutions combine their respective strengths to carry it out.

First, Gwangju Shinsegae will be responsible for the overall concourse space layout and design, implementing the department store operator’s unique luxurious and clean atmosphere, presenting a new model for subway stations. A large LED monitor will be installed on the performance stage, allowing users to experience cultural and informational content vividly, and a citizen rest area reminiscent of a caf? will also be created.

Additionally, Gwangju City will manage the main content, planning to promptly promote various welfare policies, lifestyle information, and local issues to citizens through sensory promotional materials, thereby maximizing citizens’ access to information and convenience in daily life.

Gwangju Transportation Corporation will provide the space and take charge of overall coordination to ensure that the improvement project satisfies both aesthetic sensibilities and the convenience of urban railway users.

Nongsung Station is adjacent to the Gwangcheon area, which will be the center of the “Fun City Gwangju,” and it is expected that the number of users, including visitors to the future complex shopping mall and local citizens, will increase significantly, drawing public interest to this remodeling.

Jo Ik-moon, president of Gwangju Transportation Corporation, emphasized, “This Nongsung Station improvement project will be a good example of the community coming together to realize Fun City Gwangju. We will do our best to create a station that satisfies all citizens.”
