This drill was carried out to strengthen cooperation among related agencies and secure practical capabilities by checking the rapid recall and response system for non-compliant food products.

Within the jurisdiction, a total of 209 food traceability management registered companies are operating, including △6 food manufacturing and processing businesses △14 health functional food distribution and manufacturing businesses △181 other food sales businesses, ranking ninth largest nationwide.

The drill was conducted assuming a situation where an infant food product produced by a local company was judged to be non-compliant (Grade 3) with bacterial growth standards.

Namyangju City simulated the procedure of recalling 4,000 out of 9,900 non-compliant products that had been shipped, while 5,900 remained in stock, from 20 other food sales businesses including △large supermarkets △local food markets △Hanaro marts.

The drill involved △Food Safety Information Center △Ministry of Food and Drug Safety △Regional Food and Drug Safety Offices △21 local industries to check organic cooperation and response systems in an actual recall situation.

A representative of a local company producing special nutritional foods stated, “The food traceability management system transparently provides product distribution status, enabling rapid and accurate recalls without confusion when non-compliant products occur,” adding, “Through this drill, we confirmed the system’s effectiveness once again.”

A Namyangju City official emphasized, “Namyangju has many food traceability management registered companies, and we conduct simulation drills annually in cooperation with related agencies,” adding, “Through this, we will do our best to quickly recall non-compliant foods to protect citizens’ safety and create a transparent and safe food distribution environment.”
