'Essay Question Leak' Yonsei University Will Not Recruit Additional Successful Candidates in the Second Exam

Even if there are duplicate passers in the 1st and 2nd rounds, it remains unchanged

Yonsei University, which experienced a leak of essay questions during the 2025 academic year early admission for natural sciences, has decided not to conduct additional recruitment due to duplicate admissions in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

'Essay Question Leak' Yonsei University Will Not Recruit Additional Successful Candidates in the Second Exam Yonhap News

On the 28th, a Yonsei University official stated, "At present, we do not plan to recruit additional successful candidates due to duplicate admissions in the 1st and 2nd exams."

For the 1st exam held on the 12th of last month, if there are successful candidates who do not register, students with waiting numbers will be additionally recruited to fill the quota of 261. However, for the 2nd exam scheduled for the 8th of next month, the university will not fill the vacancies left by unregistered successful candidates separately. Accordingly, vacancies caused by duplicate admissions in both the 1st and 2nd exams or by students moving to higher-ranking universities will remain unfilled without additional recruitment.

If successful candidates are selected separately in the 1st and 2nd exams as originally planned, the admission quota would increase from 261 to a maximum of 522, which is double. Without conducting additional recruitment, the total number of successful candidates could fall significantly short of this. All students who took the 1st exam on the 12th of last month are eligible to take the 2nd exam.

Regarding this, examinees demanding a retest maintain their position to continue legal action, stating, "Yonsei University is not selecting additional successful candidates in the 2nd exam to minimize the number of admissions."
