Gwangmyeong Hakon Breaks Ground on First 'Equity Accumulation' Public Housing... 4,317 Units to be Supplied

The Gwangmyeong Hag-on Public Housing District in Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do broke ground on the 28th.

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) announced that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Gwangmyeong Hag-on Public Housing District, which will supply 4,317 housing units on a 684,000㎡ site in the Gahak-dong area of Gwangmyeong-si, serving as a residential complex supporting the Gwangmyeong Siheung Technovalley, a key hub in the southwestern metropolitan area.

The Gwangmyeong Hag-on District will apply a ‘share accumulation’ sales system, where buyers initially pay only a portion of the sale price and acquire additional shares over 20 to 30 years to eventually own their home.

Additionally, to respond to climate change, the cultural park within the Hag-on District will recycle underground water discharged from the Sinansan Line, and zero-energy-plus buildings aiming for carbon neutrality will be constructed. Surplus electricity generated from building operations will be supplied to facilities within the park.

GH expects that if mobility-leading companies and related businesses are attracted to the nearby Gwangmyeong Siheung Urban High-tech Industrial Complex under development, ‘live-work proximity’ will be achievable. Once the Hag-on Station on the Sinansan Line opens, it will take about 20 minutes to reach Yeouido in Seoul, and future establishment of the Wolgot-Pangyo Line will facilitate easier access to Pangyo Technovalley.

Kim Se-yong, president of GH, stated, "GH will do its best to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable city along with innovations that can change the paradigm of housing policies, such as share accumulation type sale housing."
