"What if Art Melts?"... Netizens Praise 'Nunsaram Pieta' Highly As Seoul experienced the highest snowfall ever recorded in November and heavy snowstorms swept across the country, a 'Pieta Snowman' that appeared at a domestic art university has become a hot topic. Online community

The Italian word 'Pieta,' meaning sorrow and grief, is a theme frequently used in Catholic art, depicting the Virgin Mary weeping while holding Jesus who died on the cross. The unique pathos of the Pieta has been expressed by many artists in sculptures and other works. The most widely known Pieta among the public is Michelangelo's Pieta statue in St. Peter's Basilica.

Netizens who saw the sculpted 'snow Pieta' reacted with comments such as "This is true art," "The fact that it disappears when it melts makes it a work of art. Really cool," "How did they fix Jesus' head?" "I never thought I'd see a Pieta made of snow," "They should spray water to freeze it solid," and "Did two art university students pose and then pile snow on top?"

Meanwhile, from the night of the 27th to the morning of the 28th, snow or rain continued to fall in most regions nationwide, and more snow is expected to accumulate overnight. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's forecast, snow and rain will continue until the afternoon of the 28th in the inland and mountainous areas of central and southern Gangwon Province and inland Gyeongbuk, until late night of the 28th in southern Gyeonggi Province, and until late night of the 29th in Chungcheong, Honam, and Jeju. With a large amount of snow already accumulated and more snow falling, significant damage may occur, so precautions are necessary. As temperatures drop, snow will accumulate and roads are expected to become icy.
