The 2nd Korea Safe Workplace Awards Ceremony
The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KBIZ) announced that it jointly held the '2024 Industrial Safety and Cooperation Conference' on the 28th at the KBIZ Hall of the Federation.
Now in its second year, this conference was co-hosted by KBIZ and the Industrial Safety Cooperation Foundation to award outstanding companies and contributors in safety and health management and to promote a safety culture. The Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and Hyundai Motor Group participated as supporting organizations.
Attendees at the event included Jung Yun-mo, Executive Vice President of KBIZ; Ahn Kyung-duk, Chairman of the Industrial Safety Cooperation Foundation; Jung Sang-bin, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company; Baek Heon-gi, President of the Korean Industrial Health Association; and Lim Mu-song, President of the Korean Industrial Safety Association, who all congratulated the event.
In the first part of the conference, the 2nd Korea Safe Workplace Awards ceremony was held to honor small and medium enterprises excelling in safety and health management and contributors in the industrial safety and health field.
In the corporate category of the 2nd Korea Safe Workplace Awards, the honors went to ▲Wit (Minister of Employment and Labor Award) ▲Namyang Metal (KBIZ Chairman Award) ▲Daesung Finetek (KOSHA Chairman Award) ▲GSB Solution (Industrial Safety Cooperation Foundation Chairman Award).
For the special corporate awards (Industrial Safety Cooperation Foundation Chairman Award), four workplaces that participated in the Foundation’s support projects and demonstrated high levels of safety and health management system implementation and excellent results were recognized in four categories: ▲IMI Tech (Safety Design) ▲CM Tech (Safety Culture) ▲Donga Plating (Safety Education) ▲Shinshin ENC (Risk Assessment).
In the individual contribution award category, ▲Kim Woo-young, Manager at Danil System (Minister of Employment and Labor Award) and ▲Son Min-jae, Manager at GSB Solution (KOSHA Chairman Award) were honored.
The second part of the conference featured presentations on government policies for preventing industrial accidents in SMEs, a special lecture on building safety and health management systems, and presentations of best practices.
Koh Kwang-jae, Head of the Seoul Regional Headquarters of KOSHA, introduced government policy directions and support projects for preventing industrial accidents in SMEs. Professor Seo Yong-woon of Dongguk University’s Department of Industrial Systems Engineering gave a special lecture titled "Building Safety and Health Management Systems Starting from Field Understanding." Following this, the Korea Safe Workplace Award-winning companies ▲Wit ▲Shinshin ENC ▲Danil System presented their excellent safety and health management cases.
Jung Yun-mo, Executive Vice President of KBIZ, stated, “There is still much to be done to establish safe workplaces in small and medium enterprises,” adding, “Reflecting the appeals from SMEs struggling to comply with the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, we hope for active support from the government and the National Assembly to establish a prevention-centered industrial safety culture.”
Ahn Kyung-duk, Chairman of the Industrial Safety Cooperation Foundation, said, “Industrial safety is not the responsibility of a specific company or department but a shared task for our entire society,” and added, “The Foundation will continue to expand support projects to strengthen the safety and health capabilities of SMEs based on past achievements and experiences, reflecting the realistic conditions and needs of SMEs.”
