On the 26th, Korea Habitat, an international non-profit organization for housing welfare, and singer Sean held a dedication ceremony for a new home for the descendants of independence activists in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do, the organization announced on the 28th.
This new home, dedicated to the family of patriot Park Byeong-du, who led the anti-Japanese peasant movement, was built with funds raised through the annual donation marathon "815 Run" held on Liberation Day. During the Japanese colonial period, Park Byeong-du led farmers in protest movements against the oppressive collection of excessive rent by pro-Japanese landlords. In recognition of his contributions to the anti-Japanese peasant movement, the government posthumously awarded him the Order of Merit for National Foundation in 2005.

The family of Park Byeong-du expressed their gratitude, saying, "Our great-grandfather devoted all his assets to the independence movement, so our parents have had a difficult time until now." They added, "Our father, who has mobility difficulties, was at risk going outside in the previous house, but since moving into the new home, he has been able to take walks and seems to be improving in strength and condition."
