The ceremony was graced by the presence of Lee Kwang-yong, chairman of the Gwangyang Steelworks Partner Association, representatives from the eight Gwangyang Steelworks partner companies, Kim Jae-yeol, chairman of the Pohang Steelworks Partner Association, and Park Sang-hoon, leader of the Gwangyang Steelworks Cooperation Communication Section.

Chairman Lee Kwang-yong said, “Gwangyang and Pohang are partners in the same industry pursuing mutual growth. To contribute to the development of our sister city Pohang, the executives and employees of partner companies have united to participate in the hometown love donation program. We hope this donation will serve as an opportunity for the two regions to cooperate more closely and grow together.”

Mayor Lee Kang-deok expressed, “I deeply appreciate the warm sharing and solidarity of the members of the Gwangyang Steelworks Partner Association who participated in the donation. I hope this donation will lead Pohang City and Gwangyang City to cooperate more closely and create a new win-win model where the region and companies grow together.”

In August, the chairpersons of the Pohang and Gwangyang Steelworks Partner Associations took the first step toward partner companies’ participation in donations through mutual hometown love donations.

Since then, Pohang City directly visited Gwangyang Steelworks to promote the hometown love donation program to partner companies, which was met with enthusiastic participation in donations, leading to active relay donations between the two regions.

The relay donations by member companies from the two cities have greatly contributed to mutual hometown love donations centered on corporations this year, setting a model case of joint growth between companies and regions and leading the spread of sustainable cooperation and sharing culture between regions.
