KGA has laid the foundation to become a leading company in core equipment for secondary battery electrode processes through the groundbreaking of its new factory in Pyeongtaek Brain City.
KGA (KGA, CEO Kim Ok-tae), a specialized company in core equipment for secondary battery electrode processes, officially announced on the 28th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory in Pyeongtaek Brain City to respond to large-scale order mass production systems.
About 30 people, including key partners such as Song Joo-jung, CEO of Darim Architecture Office, Lee Dong-gyun, Executive Director of Dongin Construction, KGA CEO Kim Ok-tae, and employees, attended the event. This groundbreaking ceremony is evaluated as an important turning point for Pyeongtaek Brain City to establish itself as an advanced industrial complex. Additionally, KGA's investment is expected to contribute to the local economy and job creation, helping Pyeongtaek City to leap forward as a domestic and international industrial hub.
KGA plans to invest approximately 70 billion KRW to build the new factory by the second half of 2025. This factory will produce not only secondary battery electrode process equipment such as coaters, roll presses, and slitters but also new business equipment like aerogels and lead-acid battery restorers.
The completion of this new factory is a strategic decision to resolve spatial constraints of the existing equipment manufacturing plant and to establish a foundation that can quickly respond to the rapidly increasing customer demand. The additional annual sales expected upon operation of the new factory are conservatively estimated at 145 billion KRW, potentially reaching up to 200 billion KRW. This represents about a fourfold increase compared to the current sales, significantly enhancing KGA's future growth potential.
KGA CEO Kim Ok-tae stated, “After the completion of the new factory, we will be able to directly undertake projects that were difficult to secure due to limitations in manpower and production space,” adding, “We expect sales to grow more steeply after 2025.” He further added, “We will introduce the latest technology-based production processes at the new factory to further strengthen our competitiveness in the global market.”
