CEO Han Dong-hoon Not Mentioned at Top Meeting
Intense Outside Rivalry Among Shin Ji-ho, Jang Ye-chan, and Others
Heightened Attention on Potential Impact of 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act'
As the controversy over the 'Party Member Bulletin Board' spreads into internal strife, it is now escalating into a series of mutual accusations. Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, has refrained from making direct comments on the issue, but the bulletin board controversy appears to be intensifying factional conflicts.
On the 28th, Han Dong-hoon reportedly made no specific remarks regarding the party member bulletin board during the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly. At the meeting, Han only bowed his head in response to the prosecution's raid on the People Power Party the previous day. He said, "I feel sorry to the public for the situations in the past where political brokers like Myung Tae-gyun could operate," adding, "The Public Opinion Survey Improvement Task Force will thoroughly identify the problems and prepare measures to prevent recurrence."

However, outside the party, verbal battles continue day after day. The party member bulletin board controversy is extending as a continuation of the 'Yoon-Han conflict,' with emotional responses exchanged. Shin Ji-ho, the Deputy Head of Strategic Planning and a pro-Han faction member, claimed on Channel A's YouTube the previous day that "a person who is said to be the aunt of First Lady Kim Keon-hee used the expression 'a family doomed to be struck by lightning' about Han Dong-hoon's family on Facebook," adding, "(We) do not consider it a problem."
On the other hand, former Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan alleged that Han's spouse led a campaign to send flower baskets to Han through an online cafe. On the same day, Jang urged Han to "reveal the truth" via his Facebook, stating, "If the truth is not revealed because it is considered a negative factor, a bad precedent will be set where any suspicion will be buried if it lasts only two weeks."
Within the party, there are voices suggesting that this controversy could affect the 'Special Prosecutor Law for First Lady Kim Keon-hee,' which is scheduled for a re-vote on the 10th of next month. Although the party's firm stance is a unified 'rejection,' if the controversy continues, the re-vote could become a variable. The People Power Party is reportedly considering that the Democratic Party of Korea's postponement of the special prosecutor law re-vote to the 10th of next month may be due to internal conflicts causing dissenting votes. It was previously reported that an option for all members to abstain from the special prosecutor law re-vote was considered, but Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho told reporters the previous day, "Nothing has been decided regarding the voting method."
