Guro-gu Opens Grade-Separated Intersection at Guro IC on Nambusunhwan-ro

At Guro Nadeulmok (IC) Guro 1-dong Entrance, Construction of At-Grade Intersection and Installation of Traffic Signals

Guro-gu announced that it has opened a new at-grade intersection earlier this month as part of a road structure improvement project at the Nambusunhwan-ro Guro Interchange (IC), carried out in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government (Road Planning Division).

The section of Nambusunhwan-ro at the Guro Interchange (IC) leading into Guro 1-dong was a frequent site of vehicle collisions caused by wrong-way driving, where vehicles mistakenly entered the opposite lane.

This was especially challenging for first-time visitors or novice drivers, who often struggled with vehicle conflicts and confusion over the correct route.

In response, Guro-gu, with full funding support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Road Planning Division, began construction on this section in May and opened the at-grade intersection earlier this month.

The existing merging point was closed, and an at-grade intersection was created at the Guro Interchange (IC) entrance to Guro 1-dong, with new traffic signals installed to improve signal operation systems.

Additionally, aging sewer pipelines were repaired, and landscaping work including tree transplantation was carried out simultaneously as part of a comprehensive environmental improvement project to enhance safety.

A resident of Guro 1-dong said, “I have lived here for over 20 years and was always anxious about accidents happening, but now I feel relieved. I am happy that this long-awaited project by the residents has been completed.”

A Guro-gu official stated, “We expect that this road structure improvement project will effectively reduce traffic accidents. We will continue to improve accident-prone and dangerous sections and do our best to create a safer traffic environment.”
