From December 2 to 13, 2024 Senior Job Recruitment Increases by 74 to 2,249 Positions
Meal Assistants, Vulnerable Group Care Supporters, Smart Shelter Guardians, and 42 Other Jobs to Start Next Year
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will recruit 2,249 elderly job participants from December 2 to 13.
The elderly job program consists of three types: ▲Elderly Public Interest Activity Type, where participants engage for self-satisfaction and community public interest promotion; ▲Elderly Capacity Utilization Type, which provides services in areas needing social help by utilizing experience; and ▲Community Project Group, which operates year-round with business profits.
The number of recruits by category is ▲Elderly Public Interest Activity Type 1,685 ▲Elderly Capacity Utilization Type 476 ▲Community Project Group 88, totaling 2,249, an increase of 74 from the previous year.
The Elderly Public Interest Activity Type is open to basic pension recipients aged 65 or older residing in Seongdong-gu. Starting this year, recipients of occupational pensions and their spouses who meet the criteria set by the Minister of Health and Welfare can also participate. Selected participants will work in 19 projects such as elementary and middle school meal assistants, smart shelter and smart smoking booth attendants, and senior center lunch assistants.
The Elderly Capacity Utilization Type applicants must be 65 or older, and the Community Project Group applicants must be 60 or older. The Elderly Capacity Utilization Type will work in 19 project groups including the Senior Elevator Safety Team, vulnerable group care supporters, and childcare facility assistants, while the Community Project Group will work at the Seoul Forest Cafe and community workshop. However, recipients of livelihood benefits among basic livelihood security recipients, workplace health insurance subscribers, long-term care insurance recipients, participants in government and local government job projects, and foreign residents in Korea are excluded from applying.
Elderly individuals wishing to participate in the elderly job program can submit applications by visiting one of seven implementing agencies, including local community centers, the Seongdong-gu branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, and the Seongdong Senior Welfare Center, from December 2 to 13. Online applications are also available through the ‘Elderly Job Here’ or ‘Bokjiro’ websites. For more details, contact the Senior and Disabled Welfare Division of Seongdong-gu Office.
Selected job participants will begin full activities starting January next year. The Elderly Public Interest Activity Type involves 30 hours of work per month with a maximum activity allowance of 290,000 KRW.
The Elderly Capacity Utilization Type works 60 hours per month and receives 634,000 KRW, while the Community Project Group receives salaries under labor contracts funded by subsidies and business operation profits.
Elderly participants in the job program must complete mandatory annual training. The Elderly Public Interest Activity Type requires 12 hours including 6 hours of safety education and general training; the Elderly Capacity Utilization Type requires 17 hours; and the Community Project Group requires at least 12 hours of annual mandatory training.
Additionally, the district plans to strengthen practical preventive education by analyzing common types of safety accidents and sharing real cases to increase awareness.
