The Community Contribution Recognition System is a program established to discover organizations that conduct social contribution activities through partnerships with non-profit organizations and to acknowledge their achievements. This system categorizes levels from 1 to 5 after evaluation. KORAIL achieved the remarkable feat of receiving the highest level, Level 5, for three consecutive years.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and others highly evaluated KORAIL for its continuous diverse activities linked with local communities, such as the social contribution train travel program ‘Happy Train’ utilizing railway infrastructure, operating tourism products targeting depopulated areas, hiring local talents, and cooperating with small and medium-sized enterprises.

In particular, KORAIL was recognized for contributing to revitalizing the local economy by developing tourism products connecting 23 depopulated areas with the Happy Train for 2,024 vulnerable people nationwide, marking the 20th anniversary of the KTX opening this year.

Han In-sook, Head of KORAIL’s Public Relations and Culture Office, said, “KORAIL will continue to strive to be a public enterprise that coexists with local communities through job creation and the development of customized programs.”
