"Don't Worry About Your Commute Home"... Increased Subway and Bus Services Due to Heavy Snow in Seoul

Increase Concentrated Dispatch Time by 30 Minutes to Add More Services

Due to heavy snowfall expected to cause road congestion from the early morning of the 27th, Seoul City will increase the frequency of subways and buses during commuting hours.

On this day, Seoul City will extend the focused dispatch intervals for Subway Line 2 and Lines 5 to 8, increasing service by 20 trips during the morning commute and 15 trips during the evening commute. City buses will also operate with a 30-minute extended focused dispatch interval based on the departure time from the garage compared to usual.

While Snow Removal Response Level 2 is maintained, the increased public transportation service during commuting hours will continue.

Safety management of transportation facilities will also be conducted. Snow and ice will be promptly cleared at subway station entrances and bus stops to prevent slip accidents, and buses are being continuously monitored during operation with local districts cooperating in snow removal efforts.

The city provides real-time traffic information through bus information terminals (BIT) at stops, variable message signs (VMS) on roads, and the Seoul Transportation Information Center website. Additionally, subway operation status and road control information are available via the Seoul Transportation Corporation’s Ttota subway application, X (formerly Twitter), and other social networking services (SNS).

A Seoul city official stated, "We are closely monitoring weather conditions and operating public transportation flexibly to minimize inconvenience to citizens, while thoroughly managing the safety of transportation facilities. We ask all citizens to check traffic information in advance and use public transportation."
