On the 27th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it ranked first among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province in this year's evaluation of autonomous disaster prevention groups. This evaluation was conducted to encourage citizen participation in voluntary disaster prevention, response, and recovery activities and to promote the activation of autonomous disaster prevention groups.
The Icheon City Volunteer Disaster Prevention Corps participated in the Volunteer Disaster Prevention Corps Specialized Skills Competition on the 13th. The city’s Volunteer Disaster Prevention Corps ranked first in this year’s Gyeonggi-do revitalization evaluation. Provided by Icheon City
The city explained that it achieved excellent results in all evaluation categories, including ▲surveillance activities ▲completion of specialized training ▲budget support for autonomous disaster prevention groups. The city added that it has continuously promoted various safety culture activities with the autonomous disaster prevention groups, such as flood and heatwave response activities and the promotion of national action guidelines by season, thereby strengthening disaster prevention and response capabilities.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "As disaster risks have increased due to recent climate change, the role of autonomous disaster prevention groups has become increasingly important. We will continue to cooperate with these groups to conduct pre-surveillance of high-risk areas and raise citizens' safety awareness."
