Gyeongnam Office of Education to Promote Reconstruction of Main Office Building Over 40 Years Old ... Feasibility Study Service

Gyeongnam Office of Education has officially begun the procedures for rebuilding its old and deteriorated main office building.

The provincial Office of Education announced on the 26th that it has signed a contract for a preliminary feasibility study and basic planning service for the reconstruction of the main office building.

The main office building of the provincial Office of Education was established in 1983 and is over 40 years old. Over time, the need for reconstruction has been consistently raised due to building aging, safety issues, and lack of space caused by an increase in staff.

Accordingly, the provincial Office of Education prepared a promotion plan for the building reconstruction in the second half of last year and allocated 150 million KRW for the service fee in the first supplementary budget this year.

The Office of Education plans to confirm the necessity of rebuilding the building through a nine-month service project running from November this year to August next year.

If reconstruction is deemed necessary, they intend to prepare a basic architectural plan, including an investigation of all conditions related to the reconstruction and the creation of innovative spaces that can meet future educational demands.

Kim Soon-hee, Director of the General Affairs Division, said, “Through this service project, we will devise a restructuring plan for the old and inefficient building so that the main office can transform into a new home for the residents and the education community.”
