The event, held on the 3rd floor of the Pohang Fisheries Cooperative Gallery, included a report on the foundation’s projects for 2024, a scholarship donation ceremony, presentation of plaques to major donors, and in-depth discussions to provide suggestions on overall scholarship foundation operations and to strengthen scholarship programs.

At the event, Daedong (CEO Lee Yong-dong) donated 10 million KRW, Samsung (CEO Lim Yeon-sook) 10 million KRW, Samsung Environment (CEO Jung Gu-min) 10 million KRW, and Tiffany Wedding Cheongsolbat (Chairman Lee Ji-gon) 16 million KRW in scholarships.

Daedong, selected as a long-standing company in Pohang this year, has donated a total of 50 million KRW in scholarships from 2009 to 2023 to support and nurture local future talents, and has pledged an additional 50 million KRW over five years, donating 10 million KRW this year, setting a great example for the local community.

Following this, Tiffany Wedding Cheongsolbat Chairman Lee Ji-gon has donated a total of 84 million KRW in scholarships to date and contributed an additional 16 million KRW at this event, receiving a plaque recognizing him as a major donor with a cumulative donation of 100 million KRW.

This scholarship donation gained additional significance as it was made in December this year to celebrate Chairman Lee Ji-gon’s 80th birthday, with his children contributing their heartfelt support.

There are a total of two donors who have reached a cumulative donation of 100 million KRW to the Pohang Scholarship Foundation this year: Customs Corporation Cheonjihin’s customs broker Seo Tae-won and Tiffany Wedding Cheongsolbat Chairman Lee Ji-gon.

Chairman Lee Kang-deok said, “Thanks to the warm hearts and dedication contributed for Pohang’s long-term future, the Pohang Scholarship Foundation is growing together with local talents. I deeply thank everyone who has joined us in nurturing local talents,” and added, “We promise to become a scholarship foundation that takes root even more deeply, building on these precious intentions, and we ask for your continued love and interest going forward.”
