Students from the Department of Visual Design, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Department of Interior Design Stand Out
Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Tae-sang) announced on the 26th that all student teams achieved excellent results by winning awards at the ‘2024 DigiTect Capstone Design Competition’.

Organized by the DigiTect Higher Vocational Education Council, the competition was held on the 22nd at the Convention Hall of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology. A total of 40 teams from 10 universities, comprising 160 students, participated. The event was designed to strengthen the major competencies of enrolled students and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of vocational colleges through sharing educational achievements among universities.
At this competition, the ‘3EYES’ team (Song Hye-young, Kim Min-seo, Park Ji-yeon, Gong Yoon-jung, Lee Se-ho), composed of students from the Visual Design Department at Gyeongnam Information University, won the silver prize by designing customizable interior products such as clocks, lights, and mirrors under the theme ‘Customizable Modular Interior Accessories for the MZ Generation’.
Additionally, the ‘Power Motor’ team (Kim Young-joo, Lee Jin-ho, Koo Kyo-bin, Won Jong-hyun, Park Young-hwan) from the Department of Electrical Engineering won the bronze prize for their research on ‘Development of BLDC Motor for Small Drone Operation.’ The ‘CleanSum’ team (Lee Jin-ho, Lee Jae-sung, Lee Min-woo, Kim Min-seok, Cho Eun-woo, Kim Young-joo) from the same department also received the DigiTect Award for developing a ‘Medical Air Purification Protective Gear Model.’
Student Lee Seung-hyun from the Interior Design Department also received the DigiTect Award for ‘Planning an Eco-friendly Restaurant Using Aquaponics.’
Professor Hong Cheol-soon of the Visual Design Department, who guided the students, said, “This was a great opportunity for students to come up with innovative ideas related to their major, plan directly, and create tangible results. We will continue to do our best to help students demonstrate their skills in various competitions.”
The DigiTect Higher Vocational Education Council was launched in 2021 to jointly respond to and cooperate in strengthening the competitiveness of engineering departments nationwide and addressing the crisis in engineering fields.
The participating universities include Gyeongnam Information University, Dongyang Mirae University, Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, Daelim University, Ajou Motor College, Yeonsung University, Yeungnam College of Science and Technology, Ulsan College, Inha Technical College, and Chosun College of Science and Technology, totaling 10 institutions.
