Marine Weather Deterioration Expected Until Weekend
Proactive Safety Management Initiated for Accident Prevention
Due to the issuance of weather warnings caused by low pressure, rough seas with high waves are expected in the West and South Sea areas until this weekend, indicating unfavorable weather conditions.
Accordingly, the West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency held a 'Situation Inspection Meeting' on the 26th to establish a response posture for preventing maritime and coastal accidents.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 26th, a gale warning is in effect for all seas in the West and South Sea due to the influence of low pressure moving northeast over the West Sea, and worsening weather is expected until the 1st of next month.
At today's meeting, the West Sea Coast Guard Agency initiated proactive safety management measures, including early evacuation of fishing vessels and aquaculture management boats, and prevention of coastal accidents. They also conducted navigation safety broadcasts targeting tugboats and small cargo ships passing through hazardous waters, recommending safe passage through the sea areas.
Furthermore, they are making every effort to prevent accidents by strengthening land and sea patrols in vulnerable and dangerous coastal areas.
A representative of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency urged, “Please pay close attention to weather forecasts and follow safety rules such as wearing life jackets during fishing, marine leisure activities, and fishing operations,” adding, “In case of worsening weather, it is advisable to avoid entering dangerous areas and refrain from marine leisure activities as much as possible.”
