Last month, the county distributed IoT Baekyeopsang devices that monitor environmental information such as temperature, humidity, and soil moisture conditions inside facility greenhouses to 22 farms, including those growing strawberries, watermelons, and leafy vegetables, to realize a higher level of smart agriculture. This training was organized to spread information and communication technology (ICT) and enhance understanding of the latest smart farm technologies, aiming to establish smart farm models for regional strategic crops such as facility-grown strawberries and watermelons.

The lecture covered comprehensive theoretical courses on facility horticulture management using IoT Baekyeopsang, including understanding the concept of IoT Baekyeopsang, greenhouse environment management using Baekyeopsang, measurement of temperature, humidity, and greenhouse environment, data utilization methods, and smart farm field case studies.

Joo Seong-hye, Director of Agricultural Technology Division, stated, “Smart farms are an indispensable element for strengthening agricultural competitiveness and improving the quality of life for farmers.” She added, “Yangpyeong-gun currently has 3,118 facility vegetable cultivation farms, and plans to gradually expand education to apply smart farms in greenhouses.”
