Energizing the Lives of the Elderly
Learning and Health Together
Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 26th that it held a ‘Smart Senior Center Construction Project Completion Report Meeting’ aimed at enhancing digital accessibility and improving the quality of life for the elderly.
As part of the 2024 Smart Village distribution and expansion project, the city carried out the ‘Smart Senior Center’ construction project to protect the health of the elderly through smart technology.
Sacheon City is holding a completion report meeting for the Smart Senior Center construction project.
This project was conducted over approximately six months from May to November 2024, targeting 50 senior centers within the jurisdiction, with a total budget of 1.657 billion KRW invested.
The smart senior centers were equipped with elderly-customized services such as comprehensive information notifications, non-face-to-face video conferencing systems, and healthcare, creating an environment that the elderly can easily utilize.
At the completion report meeting held on the 25th in the city hall’s comprehensive situation room, it was evaluated that the project added vitality to the lives of the elderly by supporting adaptation to the digital environment and expanding the use of information devices.
In fact, the elderly are now able to receive systematic health management through the introduction of the health management system, as well as receive real-time administrative notices through the administrative information notification system.
The city plans to expand customized education for each senior center and utilize the health data collected from the smart senior center system to manage chronic diseases.
Mayor Park Dongsik stated, “We will continue to make efforts to bridge the digital divide, promote health, and expand communication opportunities.”
