The Smart City Certification system is designed to systematically assess the level of smartization of domestic cities by conducting quantitative and qualitative evaluations on 53 indicators, including innovation, governance and institutional environment, services, and technology, to select outstanding institutions.

The city received high evaluations for its unique and substantial citizen-tailored smart services, such as the Riverside Smart Hub development, the multifunctional Smart Mirror (the first nationwide installation), and the ICT-based fine dust reduction and real-time LCD display device project (Smart City Regulatory Sandbox demonstration project), which garnered great response from citizens.

In particular, during the field survey, the 'Smart IoT Pedestrian Path Project,' which installed IoT sensor-based smart facilities in pedestrian risk areas such as school zones to create a safe walking environment, and the 'Bus Stop Safety System,' which implemented deep learning technology integrated with CCTV at bus stops, were notably recognized.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, "I hope that obtaining this Smart City Certification will be a great opportunity to widely promote Uijeongbu City's excellent smart service cases," and added, "We will spare no support to provide and develop more special citizen-experienced smart services unique to Uijeongbu City."
