Ulju-gun Children's and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center Selected for Outstanding Mentoring Case

Ulsan University, which is entrusted with the operation of the Uljugun Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center (Director Kang So-eun), was selected as an outstanding case team in the 2024 Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center Mentoring Program hosted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and received an encouragement award.

The Uljugun Center won the honor by developing the "Healthy Eating Habit Practice Program for Cognitive Function Improvement," aimed at improving cognitive function and preventing dementia in the elderly at social welfare facilities.

This program involves professional nutritionists visiting social welfare facilities directly to propose various support measures to ensure safer and more nutritious meals.

The program includes △ puppet show education using teaching aids produced by the center △ specialized video programs tailored to different target groups △ development of integrated visit result reports on nutrition, hygiene, and safety △ sharing of menus with contracted companies and the center △ improvement of risk factors for potential management subjects through nutrition management card analysis.

Kang So-eun, Director of the Center (Department of Food and Nutrition, Ulsan University), said, “I hope that users of the facilities and their families can use meal services with peace of mind through the Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center,” and added, “We will do our best to support meal management and improve nutrition levels for vulnerable groups in the community, including children, the elderly, and the disabled.”
