GreenPlus, a smart farm specialist company, announced on the 26th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Premier Fresh Australia, the largest agricultural product distribution company in Australia, for the construction and supply of tomato greenhouses.

This MOU aims to formalize the operation and development of high-quality tomato greenhouses in WA (West Australia), promote the exchange of technical expertise between Korean and Australian cultivators, identify potential project phases, schedules, and mutual investment areas, and lay the foundation for expanded cooperation that may include additional agricultural projects and distribution opportunities in both countries.
GreenPlus will establish a joint operating committee composed of the CEOs of both companies to provide expertise in smart farm design, technology implementation, and cultivation methods. Premier Fresh AUS will facilitate market insights, logistics support, and access to Australian growers and regional agricultural networks for the distribution of cultivated crops.
The two companies will establish operational strategies to build and manage tomato greenhouses in WA, explore joint investment or operational models to support sustainable growth and market expansion, and jointly develop domestic and international markets for tomatoes produced in WA.
In September this year, GreenPlus signed a smart farm construction contract worth 25.3 billion KRW with PureGreen Australia, and Premier Fresh AUS formed a tripartite partnership to supply strawberries produced at PureGreen’s smart farm.
Since building smart farms requires large-scale funding, securing distributors who can recover investments is essential for smart farm operators. The company stated that through this MOU, securing a distribution network will accelerate the pace of capturing the Australian smart farm market.
Currently, Australia is focusing on smart farm technological innovation to respond to agricultural productivity risks caused by climate variability. Although Australia is a traditional agricultural powerhouse, its smart farm sector is still in the growth stage, making it a critical time to capture the smart farm market.
On the 25th, representatives from Premier Fresh AUS, PureGreen Farm, and Australian construction companies toured the strawberry smart farm in Pyeongtaek and the vertical farm in Dangjin to observe their operations. During their visit to GreenPlus headquarters, they confirmed the readiness for the Australian project’s groundbreaking and the plan for material production and supply in the first quarter of next year.
Additionally, on the morning of the 26th, the Australian partners held a meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs regarding smart farms, and in the afternoon, they planned to tour the tomato smart farm operated by the agricultural corporation FarmFarm, constructed by GreenPlus.
An Australian official said, “Through this opportunity, we were able to see the smart farms in Pyeongtaek and Dangjin firsthand and were impressed by GreenPlus’s excellent technology. We are excited and thrilled to be able to apply GreenPlus’s smart farm technology in Australia soon.”
Jung Soon-tae, CEO of GreenPlus, expressed confidence, saying, “Preparations for the groundbreaking of the PureGreen Farm project in Australia have been completed, and material supply will begin in earnest from the first quarter of next year. Since we have secured the Australian agricultural product distribution network, we also expect additional orders.”
