Create a 'Urban Renewal Project Guidebook' as well

Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the 26th that it will produce and distribute the nation’s first ‘Detailed Procedure Map for Urban Renewal Projects’ that allows a comprehensive view of the reconstruction and redevelopment procedures, aiming to reduce trial and error in various and complex urban renewal projects and to facilitate smooth project implementation.

The newly created ‘Detailed Procedure Map for Reconstruction and Redevelopment Urban Renewal Projects’ focuses on easily conveying the essential urban renewal procedures under the ‘Urban and Residential Environment Improvement Act’ to entities undertaking urban renewal projects for the first time.

The procedure maps were created separately for reconstruction and redevelopment fields. They are divided into four stages: planning stage, preparation stage, implementation stage, and completion stage. The procedures for each stage and the mandatory verification items according to laws and regulations are visualized for easy understanding. Additionally, the procedures for the ‘trust method urban renewal projects,’ which are increasingly being promoted in reconstruction and redevelopment zones recently, are also included.

Along with this, the district will distribute the ‘Yangcheon-gu Urban Renewal Project Guidebook.’ The guidebook is a compilation of lecture materials from the ‘Urban Renewal Project Knowledge Forum’ that the district has been conducting since last year. It is organized into eight topics, covering everything from procedures and precautions in urban renewal projects to major housing policy issues and trends.

The procedure maps and guidebook will be distributed to urban renewal project stakeholders to help them build the necessary capabilities and expertise for project execution. They will also be posted on the Yangcheon-gu District Office website so that anyone interested in reconstruction and redevelopment can utilize them. Meanwhile, as a flagship pledge project of the 8th local government administration, the district is actively promoting ‘speedy reconstruction and redevelopment,’ carrying out urban renewal projects in a total of 66 zones, including the reconstruction of 14 apartment complexes in Mokdong and the designation of the Moa Town management area in Sinwol 1 and 3-dong.

The district has held the largest ‘Urban Renewal Project Knowledge Forum’ among autonomous districts since last year, with over 3,800 participants attending 20 lectures so far. Starting this year, it has also actively continued support by conducting 14 sessions of ‘Visiting Urban Renewal Project Consulting,’ providing tailored consulting with experts in various fields to zones in the early stages of urban renewal projects.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “I hope the reconstruction and redevelopment procedure maps and guidebook will serve as effective manuals for the swift and successful promotion of urban renewal projects. We will continue to devote all efforts to various administrative supports for urban renewal projects to improve residential environments and enhance the quality of life for our residents.”
