Samjong KPMG announced on the 26th that starting from Bongyeong Girls' Middle School located in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 29th, it will hold the '2024 KPMG Global Cyber Day' event to guide cyber security threat response strategies for middle school students in Seoul and the metropolitan area.
KPMG Global has been hosting the 'KPMG Global Cyber Day' every year since 2017 during the 'International Cybersecurity Awareness Month' to emphasize the importance of cybersecurity to students worldwide.
This year, a total of 66 countries including Korea will participate, aiming to educate 500,000 youths on how to safely navigate the internet and raise cybersecurity awareness by 2025.
Samjong KPMG will provide education on cyber information protection measures to students at Bongyeong Girls' Middle School, Hongik University College of Education Affiliated Middle School, Garak Middle School in Seoul, and Seongil Middle School and Dasan Hangang Middle School in Gyeonggi Province until December this year.
At the event, Samjong KPMG cybersecurity experts will serve as presenters to introduce careers as cybersecurity professionals and consultants, and guide the importance of personal information protection online. Additionally, students will practice steganography firsthand, an encryption technique that hides information in image files, MP3 files, video files, and more.
Furthermore, the event will suggest ways to respond to cyber violence such as phishing, hacking, identity theft, and impersonation, which are rapidly increasing due to various online activities, and propose information protection measures to safeguard individuals from cyber threats. Lastly, safe usage of artificial intelligence (AI) will also be explained.
Go Young-dae, Executive Director and Cybersecurity Leader of Samjong KPMG’s Digital Headquarters, stated, “Through this event, we hope to contribute to creating a safe and trustworthy digital world by raising awareness of the role and importance of cybersecurity and promoting a proper online usage culture among youths, as well as supporting the development of cybersecurity talent.”
