On the 25th, Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han) signed a business agreement for the remodeling project of the Baekryeong Art Center at Kangwon National University in the reception room of Chuncheon City Hall. This agreement was made to smoothly promote the remodeling project of the Baekryeong Art Center at Kangwon National University.
The remodeling project for the Baekryeong Art Center at Kangwon National University involves an investment of 12.1 billion KRW. According to the agreement, Chuncheon City will support part of the project costs for the remodeling of the Baekryeong Art Center. In return, Kangwon National University will open its on-campus parking lot free of charge to Chuncheon citizens on weekends and public holidays. The parking lot that will be opened free of charge is the parking lot in front of Seoam Hall at the main gate of Kangwon National University.
It is expected that the free opening of the parking lot in front of Seoam Hall at the main gate of Kangwon National University on weekends and public holidays will also revitalize the local economy.
Additionally, the agreement includes a provision that if Chuncheon City rents the Baekryeong Art Center for local events, the rental fee will be waived up to seven times per year. Until now, there had been some difficulties in securing venues for various large-scale events in Chuncheon, but with this decision, local cultural events are expected to be held more actively.
Mayor Yuk Dong-han of Chuncheon said, “Through this agreement, I hope that the opening of Kangwon National University’s parking lot to citizens will serve as an opportunity to strengthen coexistence and cooperation between the university and the local community.”
