Continuous Management Needed for Seven Small Multi-Family Housing Buildings Designated as Category 3 Facilities

On the 25th, it was announced that regular safety inspections have been completed for aging small-scale apartment complexes, which are vulnerable to safety issues and lack systematic management, to ensure the safety of residents in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province.

Ilsandong-gu conducts an annual survey on aging buildings and facilities that are in safety blind spots according to the "Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities (Facility Safety Act)" to prevent damage from disasters and safety accidents. Facilities vulnerable to risks are designated as Type 3 facilities and managed accordingly.

In particular, for seven small-scale apartment complexes currently designated as Type 3 facilities but without management entities, the district has been paying close attention to residents' safety by commissioning professional safety inspection companies to conduct regular safety inspections twice a year.

This year as well, the district started regular safety inspections in February and completed them by mid-November for seven small-scale apartment complexes designated as Type 3 facilities within the jurisdiction.

The inspection results showed no critical defects, but concluded that repairs and reinforcements of aging facilities are necessary (Grade C), confirming that continuous monitoring of these apartment complexes is required. Accordingly, the district notified the facility owners of the inspection results and urged them to ensure thorough safety management through repairs and reinforcements.

A district official stated, “We will continue to pay close attention to facilities requiring management and promote safety inspections to provide systematic management and do our best to ensure the safety of citizens.”
