"Marking Coordinates for Terror"... YouTuber Supporting Dongduk Women's University Protest Deletes Video

"Cannot Overlook 'Shinsangteori' and Sexual Harassment Anymore"

A YouTuber who expressed support for Dongduk Women's University students protesting against the transition to coeducation eventually deleted their video amid a flood of criticism.

On the 24th, YouTuber A, who has about 61,800 subscribers, stated through their YouTube channel community, "A few groups have started attacking me by marking coordinates and carrying out harassment," adding, "Malicious comments and sexual harassment are basic, and they have impersonated me in open chats, created YouTube accounts mocking me by using photos of me and my acquaintances, and the malice is beyond words."

They continued, "There is no justification for this under any circumstances," and explained, "All videos have been taken down due to the concerns of those around me."

A said, "When groups collectively harass an individual on the internet, it is called cyberbullying. The attacks directed at me and my acquaintances, including YouTube comments, originated from that group," adding, "Malicious and sexually harassing comments may be deleted through reports or automatically filtered and withheld from public view, but they remain in my studio."

They further stated, "I can handle criticism directed at me, but I judged that I could no longer overlook attempts to uncover my personal information, sexual harassment, and actions causing harm to people around me," expressing, "It is painful to see my friends and family, who worry about me, struggling any longer."

Earlier, A mentioned in a video, "When thinking about the issue of secretly transitioning to coeducation at the school, I am not sure if a third party who is not directly involved has the right to say that the students are being extreme." In response, some netizens flocked not only to his YouTube account but also to accounts of his acquaintances, leaving critical comments accusing him of portraying the Dongduk Women's University students' protest as peaceful and requesting the deletion of the video.

Former child actress Kim Sujeong also revealed that she received a barrage of malicious comments after expressing support for the Dongduk Women's University students' protest. Kim, who dropped out from the Broadcasting and Entertainment Department at Dongduk Women's University, posted on social media on the 15th that she had participated in the 'Opposition to Coeducation Transition' signature campaign conducted by current students of Dongduk Women's University.

On the 16th, Kim wrote on her YouTube channel community, "I'm sorry that my first community post is like this. Please send the PDF to this email. Have a good night." This is interpreted as her intention to legally respond by collecting malicious comments about her circulating in online communities.

Meanwhile, according to Dongduk Women's University on the same day, the school administration and the student council held a third meeting but failed to reach an agreement. The student council stated they would continue to occupy the main building until the discussion on the transition to coeducation is completely withdrawn, but the school insisted that the occupation of the main building should be lifted.
