The Korea Local Autonomy Competitiveness Index is an indicator analyzed and evaluated annually by the Korea Institute of Public Administration, assessing the competitiveness of 226 basic local governments nationwide, including 75 cities, 82 counties, and 69 districts, divided into three categories: ‘management resources,’ ‘management activities,’ and ‘management performance.’

This year, Hanam City scored a total of 295.2 points in six areas of the management performance evaluation indicators?population vitality, health and welfare, education and culture, public safety, community, and economic vitality?ranking 2nd nationwide and placing in the top 4 nationwide for six consecutive years since 2019.

The high evaluation of Hanam City in the management performance category was positively influenced by policies ensuring public safety such as daily life and regional safety, and economic vitality through corporate attraction policies.

Hanam City improved children's commuting safety through the Hanam-type school zones, walking school buses, and school security guards, and ensured citizens' safe living by installing CCTV on the Misa Hangang Sand Road and promoting underground wiring in the old downtown area.

In addition, in the economic sector, under the slogan ‘Creating a City Good for Business,’ Hanam City enacted the Ordinance on Corporate Investment Attraction and Support and established a Corporate Attraction Center, actively attracting corporate investment by providing one-stop consultation services.

Through these efforts, the city successfully attracted mid-sized companies such as Seohui Construction, Kane and Roger Nine R&D Centers for golf equipment production and sales by PXG, BC Card R&D Center, Bobath Hospital of Lotte Medical Foundation, and Sungwon Adpia Co., Ltd.

During the 8th term of the elected government, Hanam City achieved the remarkable feat of attracting Sungwon Adpia through comprehensive efforts to create a ‘city good for business,’ including the enactment of the “Ordinance on Corporate Investment Attraction and Support” in August last year, aiming for industrial development and job creation.

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae stated, “It is meaningful that Hanam City achieved excellent results in the 2024 KLCI management performance category and is recognized as a city with outstanding competitiveness nationwide. We will continue to do our best to further enhance competitiveness in various fields such as welfare, culture, safety, and economy.”

Meanwhile, Hanam City ranked 4th in the metropolitan area in the ‘2024 Korea Security Index ? Livable Areas’ survey conducted this year targeting 62 cities, counties, and districts in the metropolitan area, receiving high evaluations in four areas: economic activity, living safety, health and hygiene, and residential environment.
