GS Certification Expanded to Include Information Security, Data Management, and a Total of 13 Areas

The Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute of Dong-Eui University, an internationally accredited testing institution under the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), recently added the international standard for artificial intelligence machine learning performance evaluation (ISO/IEC TS 4213) to its scope of accreditation.

With this expansion in performance evaluation, the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute will become the first in the southeastern region to issue accredited test reports related to international standards for artificial intelligence.

In particular, this expansion in the AI field is significant as the local research institute has established a testing environment that meets international standards to ensure the reliability of AI technology. It is expected to contribute to creating a trustworthy and safe AI ecosystem and to strengthening the global competitiveness of related industries.

The Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute now holds accreditation to issue test reports for a total of 22 international standard specifications, including system and software product fields, data quality, functional safety, and the newly added AI performance evaluation field.

Additionally, on October 29, the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute expanded the scope of software quality certification (GS Certification) from 8 to 13 fields, adding five software areas with high certification demand: information security, digital content, data management, utilities, and education, as approved by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Director Kwon Soon-gak of the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute stated, “The expansion of the scope of international standard accreditation signifies that the institute is emerging as a key organization guaranteeing the reliability of domestic AI technology. We plan to further strengthen our role as a testing institution to ensure AI technology reliability.” He added, “We will continue to actively respond to the rapidly changing demands of the digital industry through testing and quality certification in various software fields and take the lead in enhancing the domestic and international competitiveness of the software industry.”
