The Carbon Neutral Environment Specialist Instructor Training Course is designed to train experts who will educate Yangsan citizens on climate change issues and carbon-neutral lifestyle practices. It is a private certification registered with the Ministry of Environment, and the (RM) Korea Retirement Research Institute operates the training course, conducts written exams and practical evaluations, and then issues the certification.

This training course was supported by Yangsan City for the tuition fees, while the certification issuance costs were borne by individuals.

The course recruited 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis in September, started on October 14, and provided 18 hours of education over six sessions covering climate change and carbon neutrality theory, methods for preparing environmental lecture materials, and lecture demonstration practice. Among the 30 trainees, 26 obtained the certification by achieving the required scores through attendance (80%), written exam (60 points), and practical evaluation (70 points).

This year, Yangsan City conducted various programs for general citizens, including Green Environment School, fine dust response education, climate change awareness education, special lectures on Environment Day, and environmental specialist instructor training, with about 8,000 citizens participating. Next year, the city plans to allocate a budget of 50 million KRW to provide customized education tailored to citizens' levels and needs.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, “I sincerely congratulate those who completed the training course and obtained the certification.” He added, “With the training of carbon neutral environment specialist instructors in our city, education on overcoming the climate crisis and green growth is expected to become more active, and I urge participants to play an active role in creating a carbon-neutral city.”
