High Scores in Pothole Maintenance and Undergrounding Projects
On the 25th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it achieved first place in the spring and autumn road maintenance evaluations conducted by Gyeonggi Province.
The road maintenance evaluation by Gyeonggi Province is conducted twice a year, in spring and autumn, assessing 31 cities and counties within the province on aspects such as road pavement repairs, structure repairs, drainage facility maintenance, and budget securing status, selecting outstanding institutions. The evaluation is divided into three groups based on population size: A (over 500,000), B (over 200,000), and C (under 200,000).
In this evaluation, the city received high scores for 24-hour pothole repairs, investment in road repaving, and underground utility projects. As an outstanding institution, the city secured a commendation for the institution and staff along with a road project support fund of 50 million KRW.
Meanwhile, to prepare for heavy snowfall and freezing during winter, the city has deployed 3 excavators, 23 15-ton dump trucks, and 15 1-ton snow removal vehicles, and is also promoting projects such as installing heating cables and brine spraying devices.
A city official stated, "Although it is difficult to manage many routes with limited personnel, we will do our best to ensure that citizens can use the roads safely and conveniently."
