The "Visiting Children's Bicycle Safety Education" program was designed to prevent bicycle accidents among children and to promote proper traffic safety awareness. A total of 1,417 students from 15 elementary schools in the district participated.
The program consisted of theoretical education and practical training tailored to the children's level. In particular, a mobile bicycle experience center was set up to allow students to train under conditions similar to actual road environments, which received great positive feedback.
One student who participated in the education said, "I learned why it is essential to wear a helmet when riding a bicycle, and it made me think I should be more careful." Another student said, "Through this education, I learned how to ride a bicycle safely and was able to correct bad habits."
Based on the results of this project, Paju City plans to strengthen the children's traffic safety education program next year and create an educational environment where more children can participate by cooperating with the local community.
Lee Jong-ho, Director of the Road Construction Division, stated, "Bicycles are an eco-friendly and beneficial means of transportation, but since children who start riding bicycles are at high risk of safety accidents, continuous education is necessary," adding, "We will expand education for children's traffic safety."
