Preparing a Public Experience Event for Next Year's First Event
The Korea Aerospace Administration (Administrator Yoon Young-bin) announced on the 25th that, with May 27th, the opening day of the Korea Aerospace Administration, being designated as the national commemorative day ‘Aerospace Day,’ it will prepare a nationwide commemorative event to realize the goal of becoming one of the ‘Top 5 Aerospace Powers’ and to lead the aerospace economic era.
Aerospace Day was designated as a national commemorative day following the representative proposal of a partial amendment to the Aerospace Industry Development Promotion Act, which includes the establishment of ‘Aerospace Day,’ introduced by Assemblyman Seo Cheon-ho (People Power Party) last June. This designation was made after a public opinion gathering process involving over 10,000 participants from industry, academia, research institutes, local governments, and the public to spread nationwide consensus.
The Korea Aerospace Administration explained that it is preparing various events linked with science, technology, and culture programs for the first Aerospace Day next year, and is coordinating these with major schedules such as the 4th launch of the Nuri rocket to provide diverse events that the public can experience firsthand. They plan to continuously work on expanding the aerospace culture base by establishing cooperative systems with related organizations such as the Naro Space Center’s Space Science Museum.
Yoon Young-bin, Administrator of the Korea Aerospace Administration, stated, “The designation of this ‘Aerospace Day’ reflects the public’s interest and aspiration for realizing a space power.” He added, “We will promote various commemorative events in which industry, academia, research, and the public can participate together to boost the morale of those working in the aerospace field and accelerate the realization of Korea’s aerospace era with the people.”
