The two met at the Savoy Hotel in London and enjoyed traditional British afternoon tea while sharing their lives and experiences. They sat down together during their respective visits to London to attend the ‘2024 Guinness World Records Day’ event.
Lumesia Gelgi works as a web developer in Turkey, and Jyoti Amge is an Indian actress. Both are listed in the Guinness World Records as the world's tallest and shortest women, respectively.
Gelgi was officially recognized as the world's tallest woman in 2021. There have been only about 50 reported cases worldwide of Weaver syndrome, a rare disease characterized by excessive growth and advanced bone age, and Lumesia was the first case in Turkey. Besides being the tallest woman, she also holds records for the woman with the longest back and the woman with the longest ears in the world.

Amge is an actress who played the role of ‘Ma Petite’ in the TV drama ‘American Horror Story.’ Due to achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder, she has a short stature and was listed as the world's shortest woman in 2011. Interested in makeup and fashion, she is very active on social media.
Meeting Gelgi, she said, “I am used to looking up to people taller than me, but today I was happy to look up to the tallest woman in the world.” Gelgi said, “I realized we share many common interests such as health, makeup, and jewelry. Sometimes it was hard to make eye contact because of our height difference, but it was a wonderful time.”
Craig Glenday, editor of Guinness World Records who arranged their meeting, said, “Guinness World Records is about celebrating differences,” and added, “We brought these two amazing women together to share perspectives on life.”
