The Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 index increased by 20.63 points (0.35%) to 5969.34, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index rose 31.23 points (0.16%) to 19,003.65.

On the day, Nvidia's stock price fell 3.22%. Amazon revealed plans for an additional $4 billion investment in Anthropic, OpenAI's biggest competitor, but its stock price instead dropped 0.64%.

Among the large tech stock group known as the "Magnificent 7," only Microsoft (1.00%), Apple (0.59%), and Tesla (3.80%) rose, while Nvidia, Amazon, Alphabet (Google's parent company) (1.71%), and Meta (Facebook's parent company) (0.70%) declined.

Bitcoin's price rose more than 1% from the previous day to $99,500 per coin, approaching the historic milestone of breaking $100,000 for the first time.

Expectations that the second administration of Donald Trump will significantly ease regulations on cryptocurrencies are fueling the price increase.
