Yeoncheon-gun Imjingang Kimchi Co., Ltd. Wins Grand Prize for 'Migeumchi Yulmu Chonggak Kimchi'

Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Wins Grand Prize at Kimchi Competition

Imjingang Kimchi Co., Ltd. in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, received the grand prize at the Kimchi Contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, certifying its excellent quality.

On the 22nd, Yeoncheon-gun announced that Imjingang Kimchi Co., Ltd.'s ‘Migeumchi Yulmu Chonggak Kimchi’ won the grand prize at the 13th Kimchi Contest hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT).


The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs selected eight kimchi products, including Imjingang Kimchi Co., Ltd.'s ‘Migeumchi Yulmu Chonggak Kimchi,’ as award-winning products at the 13th Korea Kimchi Contest this year.


The Kimchi Contest is an annual event jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and aT, and organized by the Korea Consumer Agency. It selects excellent domestic kimchi to improve kimchi quality and strengthen industrial competitiveness.


The grand prize-winning ‘Migeumchi Yulmu Chonggak Kimchi’ from Imjingang Kimchi Co., Ltd. was highly praised by the judges for its flavor, which is created using dried pollack powder and anchovy powder, and for maximizing umami by mixing yulmu (Job's tears) powder into the broth. The ‘Migeumchi Yulmu Poggi Kimchi’ submitted together also received an encouragement award.


The grand prize winner received the Prime Minister’s Award and a prize of 10 million KRW; the excellence award received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award and 5 million KRW; the outstanding award received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award and 3 million KRW; and the encouragement award received the President of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation Award and 1 million KRW.


Kang Jeong-bok, CEO of Imjingang Kimchi, said, “Since we used natural ingredients as they are, we were confident in the taste and quality of the kimchi. Having received the grand prize, we will continue to do our best to make high-quality kimchi while actively using local agricultural specialties.”
