The climate crisis adaptation measures are statutory plans that local governments must establish every five years according to the 「Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth」. These measures identify regional vulnerabilities caused by climate change and prepare preemptive countermeasures. The goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and respond to the climate crisis.
With the expiration of the 2nd plan period (2020?2024), Yeoju City has been promoting the '3rd (2025?2029) Climate Crisis Adaptation Measures Establishment' service since March. Aiming to realize 'Hopeful Yeoju, a Climate-Safe Happy City through Overcoming the Climate Crisis,' 30 detailed implementation tasks were selected across five sectors: water management, agriculture and livestock, disaster and calamity, forest and ecosystem, and health.
The final report reflecting the opinions from the meeting is scheduled to be completed in February after consultation with the Ministry of Environment. Afterwards, it will be finally submitted through the review and resolution of the 'Yeoju City 2050 Carbon Neutrality Green Growth Committee.'
Lee Jong-su, Director of the Environment Division, said, “Based on Yeoju’s climate status and change risks, we will establish measures suited to local conditions and do our best to respond to the climate crisis and minimize damage.”
