Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 22nd that it recently identified lines and scenes in the Disney Plus original drama 'Gangnam B-Side' that damage the local image and requested corrective measures from the content production company.

The city judged that some scenes, lines, and subtitles related to place names, organizations, and signboards associated with Pocheon City in the drama seriously damage the local image.

In particular, it pointed out as problematic the use of actual place names along with disparaging remarks about the region and the portrayal of corruption.

Pocheon City emphasized that using actual place names in a negative context not only damages the city's administrative image and the pride of its citizens but also may violate the Information and Communications Network Act and be subject to sanctions by the Korea Communications Standards Commission.

The city officially demanded that the production company implement corrective measures by the 27th, including deleting or modifying the problematic scenes and lines (including subtitles) and temporarily suspending streaming services for the relevant episode. If the request is not fulfilled, further follow-up actions will be taken.

Lee Jin-hee, the public relations officer, said, “Content that damages the honor of local residents and the city administration must be corrected,” adding, “We will do our best to protect citizens' pride and restore the local image.”
