The city plans to create a street tree-specialized street with arrowwood through the street tree planting project for the Howon Public Support Private Rental Housing.

The adoption of arrowwood as the street tree species is the first for the city. Although arrowwood is often used as a shrub species, it is a small tree that grows up to 3 meters and is excellent at absorbing fine dust and air pollutants, playing an important role in improving urban air quality. Additionally, its vivid and beautiful red autumn foliage raises expectations for Uijeongbu City's autumn street tree paths.

At the deliberation meeting, opinions were exchanged not only on species selection but also on design considerations to prevent protruding roots by using root barrier sheets and soil improvement treatments before planting, taking into account citizens' inconveniences. These will be reflected in future creation project plans.

An official from Uijeongbu City said, "We will strive to create street tree paths where citizens can enjoy urban forests in their daily lives, aiming to build a city where people want to walk and stay."
