WSJ "High-Ranking North Korean General Injured in Ukraine Airstrike"

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 21st (local time), citing Western officials, that a high-ranking North Korean military officer was injured in an attack on Russia's Kursk region by Ukraine.

This is the first time a high-ranking North Korean officer has been casualties since North Korea dispatched more than 10,000 soldiers and officers to Russia last month.

Western officials did not disclose the identity of the high-ranking North Korean officer or the circumstances of the injury.

Ukraine launched more than 10 Storm Shadow missiles supplied by the UK targeting Kursk the day before. It is presumed that the high-ranking North Korean officer was injured in this attack.

Videos posted on social media at the time showed Storm Shadow striking a target believed to be a Russian military command post in the village of Marino, Kursk. A Russian blog reported that several North Korean soldiers were at the command post.

Earlier, on the 7th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated at the European Political Community (EPC) summit held in Hungary that some North Korean troops deployed in Kursk had been sent to the front lines and suffered casualties.

WSJ, citing Western intelligence agencies, reported that the North Korean mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Ukraine's recent airstrike on Kursk.
